Your Ethical Obligations
How does ForzaLegal help me meet my Rule 1.6 confidentiality obligations?
Rule 1.6 requires lawyers to make reasonable efforts to prevent unauthorized access to or disclosure of client information. ForzaLegal is built around that standard: enterprise-grade hosting under a signed Business Associate Agreement, strict per-firm data isolation, and a strict no-training policy on client data. We give you the technical foundation. Your judgment, client communications, and engagement letters do the rest.
Do I need client consent to use ForzaLegal?
That’s a determination for you and your firm’s ethics counsel. Most firms address AI tool use in their engagement letters or a general technology-use disclosure, but the right approach depends on your jurisdiction and practice area.
Where Your Data Lives
Where is my client data stored?
All client data is stored with an enterprise cloud provider in the United States, under a signed Business Associate Agreement. Your data does not leave that BAA-covered environment.
Is my data ever used to train AI models?
No. Our AI processing runs in an enterprise environment whose terms contractually prohibit the use of customer data for model training. We do not route client data to public AI APIs or consumer AI tools. Your data stays inside your firm’s isolated environment.
Is my firm’s data mixed with other firms’ data?
No. Every firm’s data is logically isolated, with isolation enforced at the database layer rather than only in application code. A query running for one firm cannot return data from another firm.
Who owns the data I upload?
You do. ForzaLegal claims no ownership, license, or derivative rights in the documents, case files, or work product you upload.
Retention and Deletion
How long do you keep my data?
Active case data is retained for the life of your engagement plus a default retention period aligned with legal industry standards. Retention periods are configurable to match your firm’s records policy.
What happens to my data if I leave ForzaLegal?
When you terminate your subscription or delete a case, we purge the underlying files, database records, and derived analyses, and we log the deletion in our audit trail. We’re happy to provide written confirmation of deletion on request.
Are my prompts or queries logged?
No. We log operational metadata such as timing, cost, and performance for billing and monitoring, but the contents of your prompts and the documents you analyze are not stored in our application logs.
Access and Authentication
Who at ForzaLegal can see my data?
Access to customer data is restricted to a small number of authorized personnel for support and operational purposes, and every access event is logged. Client access by ForzaLegal staff is itself an audited event. If anyone on our team views your firm’s environment, there’s a record of it.
Can I see who has accessed my firm’s data?
Audit logs covering logins, document uploads, deletions, and administrative actions are available on request.
Do you support multi-factor authentication and single sign-on?
MFA and SSO are on our roadmap and a top priority for our enterprise customers. In the meantime, every authentication event is logged, and access is enforced per firm at the database layer.
Encryption and Security
Is my data encrypted?
Yes. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest using industry-standard encryption, managed within our BAA-covered environment.
Are you SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certified?
SOC 2 Type II readiness is on our roadmap, and our controls are designed and operated to align with SOC 2 and HIPAA requirements today. We’re happy to walk procurement teams through our current control set under NDA.
Incident Response
What happens if there is a security incident?
We maintain an incident response process aligned with HIPAA’s breach notification requirements, including the 60-day notification window. If an incident affecting your data occurs, you’ll hear from us promptly with the facts and our remediation plan.
Have you experienced a data breach?
No. ForzaLegal has not experienced a reportable security incident.
Architecture and AI
How does ForzaLegal use AI, and where does my data go?
We use leading large language models for analysis, chat, and document search, all running inside our BAA-covered enterprise environment rather than against public APIs. This is a meaningful distinction. Many AI tools route data to public LLM endpoints where training data and retention terms are weaker. We don’t.
Will you sign a confidentiality agreement?
Yes. Our standard Customer Agreement includes confidentiality terms acknowledging the attorney-client privileged nature of the data you entrust to us, and we’re open to firm-specific addenda as needed.
